Relevance?
I went for a walk today and I walked into a local Christian book store looking for a biography on David Livingstone which they did not have. What did catch my eye though was their most prominent bookshelf with the heading "Relevant". And I smiled. And I thought: 'hmmm should I assume than that the rest of the books in this store are therefore irrelevant or somehow less relevant?'
What does that mean?
For me the real amusement, and maybe this is letting my own theological colours out, was that I'd have probably marked said section "Irrelevant"...!
Not quitting my day job...
So today at Zumba class our instructor had a couple class participants help her lead... and who was called upon for one set... me!?! It was a little embarrassing but also fun and I can do the whole thing "smiling" which I think led to another instructor tackling me after saying: "I think I spot a future Zumba instructor!?" She talked to me about where she had her training etc. Definitely the most encouraging thing I've heard today ;) Zumba!
Zumba is a fitness program inspired by Latin dance.

Accountability...
So... a little truth and honesty here.
Today is day one of giving up TV and media (radio, news) for a week. A fast if you will.
This is in response to a challenge from Pastor Mark Driscoll after listening to one of his online sermons.
And I'm up for it.
TV and media don't really rule my life per se. I don't have cable but do soak in my parents cable when I visit. And I do maximize my two channels. It does have a hold in my life; it's how I relax, unwind, even escape (ooh TV on DVD is best for this, which I gave up for for Lent, but I digress...).
And tonight I found myself working later, tidying and spending more time on facebook as a result (the latter which is probabley not serving "the fast" much)... we'll see how tomorrow goes!

20/20/20?
Yesterday... I somehow put two contact lenses into one eye and didn't realize until one in the afternoon!

3. "Bed time Stories" Madonna (ideal for city bopping around)
4. "August and Everything After" Counting Crows (ideal for long road trips through farmland etc.)
5. "Aretha's Gold" Aretha Franklin (also for city and wailing along with her as you cruise ;)

Guess what I saw today... this means spring is here right? Despite the snowfall on Friday the sun was shining today-- I only needed to wear a blazer to church-- not mitts, hat or heavy down feathered coat. Blue sky abounds and I can hear birds chirping in the morning... which I'm not jazzed about but it beats dogs barking (think: downstairs neighbour who I think neglects her dogs and I don't even really like animals that much).
I want to buy some bubbles, play hopscotch, skip or skip-it and wear skirts!!!
Hurrah! It's about time!
